Star Ocean: Integrity And Faithlessness Jump Festa 2016 Trailer Captures Danger And Combat

Square Enix released a new trailer for Star Ocean 5 featuring a lot of cinematic sequences, a look at the various characters that players will have under their command, and some of the combat that will come along with it.

The trailer was recently posted over on the Square Portal YouTube channel where fans of the Japanese RPG have been flocking to the page to get their fix on the upcoming game. Any little morsel of information is being gobbled up like doughnut crumbs on Chris Christie’s desk, or sniffed up cocaine dust on Rob Ford’s pants. You can check it out below.

Interestingly, one of the highlights of the trailer – according to the gamers on the YouTube page – was the “Astra Nova” song from Japanese pop artist Androp.

If you don’t speak Japanese it’s likely hard to get a gauge on what’s being said and what’s happening, but the general gist appears as if players will take control of a group led by Fidel Camuze in order to protect his hometown from the invaders. How the space travel works and what role the magic plays in the game isn’t entirely made clear, but it appears as if the one mage with the saucy outfit knows a thing or two about the magic in the game.

Combat in the game is revealed to be similar to the older games, with players being in a battle setting where they control a single member of the team in real-time while the others either stand back or are assigned specific roles in combat.

We don’t get to see much of the combat, just snippets here and there of a standard mob fight and a quick look at what appears to be a boss battle. It’s dark and the compression of the video quality is about as worthwhile NFL running back Clinton Portis’ back account.

Anyway, it’s a good little teaser for the game as it preps for its spring release in 2016 in Japan. A final release date hasn’t been set for North America and Europe – assuming that Square Enix and Tri-Ace don’t pull out and make it an Eastern release only.

In the meantime you can keep an eye on Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness‘  official website for more info.
