Savage Resurrection: FPS And RTS Action Game Enters Steam Early Access

Savage is said to be by the devs “ahead of its time” from when it launched back in 2003, though I’m not sure if that’s the truth or the devs trying to brag since it died and took 13 years to come back, but Savage Resurrection is here again. S2 Games’ latest project is now on Steam Early Access for PC, and offers hybrid FPS/RTS 12v12 arena action.

I like hybrid games, but I also get a little worried when a game tries to be a little too “hybrid.” It’s also worth noting that this game has me a little concerned that it died more than 10 years ago and just came back. I’m guessing it was too “futuristic” for people to wrap their minds around the concept. Whatever the reason behind its past death was, it’s now back and offers “more.”

During its rebirth, folks will be battling in a 12v12 arena style match that offers first-person mechanics along with real-time strategy elements. When in the RTS mode, you will be able to command  troops from a top-down perspective to decimate your foes, as described below.

“The rebirth of the classic action FPS / RTS hybrid is here! Experience fast-paced combat and cunning strategic gameplay in glorious Unreal 4 environments. Engage in epic 12v12 front-line combat, or take Command to outplay and outmaneuver your team’s way to victory.”

Crafting is noted to be beneficial to victory, as well as researching new weapons and items to add extra power to your blows. These features are sprawled throughout four maps that are currently in the game, which you can catch below courtesy of S2Jesse.

Something that will be added later on, or that’s planed to come, is bots. This is to fill in the gaps when matchmaking gets slow or if you want to sharpen your skills in-game. Bots are also noted to replace missing players and can double as commander slots in casual matches.

As of now, the game currently is 20% off on steam, marking it down from $24.99 to $19.99. This special will end on May 27th. For more information on Savage Resurrection you can visit Steam Early Access, or the game’s main site.
