There’s nothing really more intense than playing as a Yakuza member on the run, fighting off rival gangs, throwing darts with friends, and engaging in the most dynamic form of phone sex one could imagine outside of accidentally dialing the personal phone number of Richard Simmons while he’s hocked up on Vicodin and rum.

Coming after the release of Yakuza 6, Sega’s dedicated team working on the Yakuza franchise have Yakuza 0 in the mix. This is a throwback game that works as a prequel to the original, explaining how things went down bad and dirty involving Goro Majima and Kazuma Kiryu.

Recently Sega rolled out a new trailer during the E3 festivities last week to give gamers a heads-up about Yakuza 0 and showcase some of the things that they’ll be able to do in the game. You can check out the trailer below that All Games Delta picked up.

The trailer shows off a little bit of the story but not too much of it. They’ve released other trailers previously that focused on the tension and turmoil that Kiryu-san faces in the early days of joining the Yakuza, as well as the hit going wrong and them killing the wrong guy.

The lauded fighting system makes a return with even more weapons to use, more combos to master and more wacky special attacks to unleash on foes. A few of them really go way over the top.

Yakuza 0 manages to infuse the serious undertones of the Yakuza warfare and politics with some of the more lighthearted elements of Japanese culture, such as the hostess clubs, the mini-games and even interactive phone sex. Yes, there’s nothing like picking up and slamming down a phone with the kind of focused attention one would expect from a brick breaking competition.

Graphically the game looks as good as ever.

The texture filtering is finally at a point where we get to see so many of the details that have been absent in prior games due to the limitations of the PS3. But now that the game is moving toward the PS4 everything is looking a heck of a lot crisper.

In a previous live-stream the developers covered some of the mini-games and side-activities that players can partake in, and they really capture the spirit of Japan’s night life. This is also one of the few series where the directors have come out to say that they won’t be heeding any of the current trends in Western political correctness or third-wave feminism to add to the Yakuza series.

You can look for Yakuza 6 to launch later this year for the PS4, and you can look for Yakuza 0 to launch in early 2017 for the PS4. Both games are heading Westward, so feel free to rejoice over that fact. For more info, feel free to visit the official Yakuza 0 website.
