Harvest Moon: Skytree Village Screenshots Preview New Animals

Due out next spring for the Nintendo 3DS, Natsume’s Harvest Moon: Skytree Village will introduce some brand new content, including new beaus and beauties to romance, new farming equipment, new crops and new animals.

Rising Star Games and Natsume let loose some of the newest screenshots for the game as remnants of the E3 asset roll out.

One of the new animals this time around is the Poitou donkey. They don’t really say what the donkey does and what makes it special, but it’s one of the new features added to the game in addition to the overhauled fishing mechanics. Natsume rolled out an expanded river system that allows players to catch rarer fish. I guess they wanted to compete with Concerned Ape’s Stardew Valley and the rather in-depth fishing system that the game sports.

Lee Skittrell, the marketing strategist for Rising Star Games commented about the new features, stating…

“Because we enjoyed such success with our most recent release, 2015’s Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley, we are thrilled to once again be able to bring an all-new Harvest Moon to our passionate and loyal community of farming game fans.”

The farming genre is making a small comeback after Stardew Valley sold gangbusters. Gamers have been craving for a decent farming and live-your-life sim, and Chucklefish and Concerned Ape delivered.

There’s also the upcoming Story of Seasons from XSeed Games, which is also another live-your-life farming sim, closer to the likes of the original Harvest Moon games. So Natsume has some stiff competition currently on the market that they’ll have to deal with when Skytree Village launches next year.

The major difference between the upcoming Harvest Moon and the other titles is that it’s in 3D, assuming graphics is what may win you over when it comes time to make a purchasing decision.

New flowers, new romance options and new family options to raise a family and kids have also been implemented, and you can look to learn more by visiting the official website.
