Berserk’s New Gameplay Trailer Reveals Guts Battling Musou-Style
Berserk 11

It’s finally here, in-game footage of Guts shedding blood on the battle field with blood all over him. As one would expect, the combat plays out like a typical Koei Tecmo and Omega Force game, except in the world of Berserk. The game is set to come out for PS3, PS4, PS Vita and PC this Fall.

As one would expect, Koei Tecmo released a new video showing actual gameplay of Berserk. It follows Guts decimating his enemies in common Musou style. This is something that we see a lot with Koei Tecmo and Omega Force.

I should note that those looking for something more deep in the combat shouldn’t look too far, seeing how most Musou games follow a very similar formula. In other words, it should play out close to Dynasty Warriors or other Musou-like games such as Orochi Warriors in terms of combat, but I’m sure without the “base taking” aspect.

With that said I am excited to see more of Berserk, but I would be disappointed if the devs fail to deliver that brutal Berserk touch. Anyways, the video only runs for 48 seconds and covers a small portion of an ongoing battle.

The video can be seen below, which the footage that comes in is captured on the PS4, thanks to Koei Tecmo‘s YouTube channel.

As of now, we know that Guts, Griffith, Casca, Judea, Serpico, Zodd and Schierke will be playable characters. However, it would be nice if Skull Knight tags along, as well as others like Grunbeld, but that’s just me.

If you are excited about Berserk the new upcoming game by Koei Tecmo and Omega Force, it will debut over in Japan on October 27th, for PS3, PS4 and PS Vita. As for the West the game will be available for PS4, PS Vita and PC via Steam this Fall.

Hmm. Still not a fan of his new voice actor. Recent Japanese voice actors sound so generic compared to the older ones.

Also don’t like the silly cyan colored glow effect on his swings. The weird blood fountains when he strikes them look really strange, too. And his face still doesn’t quite look like Guts. Even the PS2 version looks better in that regard.

On the plus side, they fixed the super weak hit sounds in the previous trailer. And there’s some weight to his swings. I was going to say I thought the sword felt better in older games, but looking up videos of them now, the animation in those games looks pretty terrible.

Not a fan of his new VA either, or some of the combos in the game. However, I kinda figured it would be this way seeing how KT and OF is behind it.

As for his weight to his attacks, I think they could be heftier. They look alright, but I do hope they touch that up some more.

And as for the AI, I don’t like how they stand around like that. Hopefully the enemies are more engaging and come after the player more, but that’s just me.

Yeah, this video made me realize that the game isn’t going to be how I envisioned it from what they’ve shown up until now. I’m going to have to seriously reconsider whether I’ll buy it.
