Blue Dragon Will Be Backwards Compatible On Xbox One

According to a Tweet from Xbox’s head honcho Phil Spencer, it appears as if one of the classic JRPGs for the Xbox 360 will be making its way to the Xbox One via backwards compatibility.

VG 24/7 picked up the news from a tweet-reply by Phil Spencer who was asked if we could be seeing Blue Dragon at some point for the Xbox One. Spencer states that he’s not allowed to say but then says “yes”.

Some of you might be wondering why this is even news, but it’s because the Xbox One can now support multi-disc games via backwards compatibility. Multi-disc games have slowly been making their way to the Xbox One, and that’s definitely good things for gamers who own the console but also want to maintain playing their old games from their Xbox 360 library.

For Blue Dragon this is particularly good because it means a lot of people who missed out on the game back when int first launched for the Xbox 360 can soon get their hands on it for the Xbox One.

A lot of gamers have also been clamoring for support for Lost Odyssey, another game from Mistwalker Studios. It was during this time that Microsoft was really gunning to win over the Japanese gaming market but couldn’t seem to do so on their own merits so they contracted various studios to make a bunch of Xbox 360 exclusives targeted toward the Japanese market. Blue Dragon was one of those games.

If you need a refresher course on what the gameplay was like, you can check out a longplay below from YouTuber leonyasch.

There’s no timetable on when Blue Dragon will be available as a backwards compatible title on the Xbox One, but if Spencer is saying that it’s coming, then I imagine it won’t be long before it’s made available.
