Cemu 1.5.6 Patreon Download Improves Bayonetta 2 Performance

The 1.5.6 release of the Cemu emulator for the Wii U has been made available for Patreon backers, and a preview for the general public has also been made available, giving gamers the world around a look at what’s been added, improved and updated in version 1.5.6 for the Cemu Wii U emulator.

As usual, YouTuber reznoire put together a three and a half minute long video covering all of the changes, updates, upgrades and improves to the emulator, comparing some games running in 1.5.5 to 1.5.6. You can check out the video below.

The video starts with comparisons between Mario Kart 8 running on 1.5.5 and Mario Kart 8 on 1.5.6. There’s around a 5fps difference on average in performance uptick between the two versions, and this is on an i5 4GHz CPU with an EVGA GTX 970 GPU.

Games like Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker have seen an amazing 10fps upgrade between the two versions, making it one of the more improved titles between emulation releases. Captain Toad has also seen some minor reduction in flickering and vector distortions.

Star Fox Guard has slightly better compatibility, but the other screens that aren’t the main one are still pretty much unusable.

Bayonetta 2 has seen some minor upgrades, improving still with each new release, along with Splatoon, which is almost running smooth as butter at 60fps.

Some games like Super Mario 3D World still suffer from some slowdown and the average frame-rate isn’t quite up to par to what it should be, but a lot of the graphical artifacts, shadow rendering problems and shader incompatibilities have been fixed.

The team working on the Cemu emulator are making very fast progress, almost in an unreal way. If you can’t wait a week to get your hands on the Cemu 1.5.6, which will be available to download for free over on the Cemu website, you can donate $5 to the team and gain access to the emulator a week earlier through the Cemu Patreon page.
