War Of Rights “Coming Soon” To Steam Early Access For PC

Publisher and developer Campfire Games seeks to take players back in time during the war of 1862, where there was no such thing as Assault Rifles, Battles Rifles, or SMGs, but just matchlock, revolvers and other manual weapons. The upcoming crowdfunded game pits players against each other either as the Union or the Confederate, and will be for PC via Steam.

That’s right, Campfire Games latest project will set players during the time when Abraham Lincoln and Ulysses S. Grant ordered soldiers into deadly campaigns across various skirmishes during the Civil War. Players will be able to take charge of either side of the battle (Confederacy or the Union), and lead their soldiers into a “simulation” set to reflect the conflicts of 1862.

The official description for War Of Rights lies below.

“War of Rights is a multiplayer game set during the perilous days of the American Civil War, in the Maryland Campaign of September, 1862. Campfire Games is devoted to presenting the gruesome and glorious elements of the period, while maintaining the highest level of historical accuracy and realism as is possible with the wonders of CRYENGINE.”

According to the game’s features, folks will be able to customize their soldiers to their liking, which also includes tactics, weapons and so on. I don’t know how in-depth the customization will be on release, but with the added feature in the works seems quite cool.

The devs also noted that the General will play a pivotal role in succeeding in battles due to operating in a semi-safe HQ, equipped with a map of the field and the knowledge of all of the enemies’ whereabouts.

In addition to the General, other important ranks like a Colonel, Major, and Captain will all play vital roles in emerging victorious. As of course, all of these roles will be controlled by players themselves on different historical battle locations, as noted below:

“Players in the game will be able to play on multiple battlefields of the campaign, from the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers where the Siege of Harper’s Ferry took place, to the ridgelines of South Mountain, and to the meandering waters of Antietam Creek at the Battle of Antietam. Additionally, players will also be able to choose from a list of regiments that fought in each battle as well as what rank to fight as, whether they want to slog it out as a lowly private, or if you want to orchestrate the carnage and mayhem as a major general.”

The game so far looks pretty interesting, and is a nice entry seeing how we don’t get many Civil War games. With that said, you can check out the game’s Kickstarter trailer thanks to DiplexHeated.

As of now, the game just entered Steam Early Access’ “Coming Soon” page, and will most likely gain more details by the devs in the coming months. For more information regarding War of Rights, you can head on over to Steam or warofrights.com. Before signing out, you can check out some screenshots posted up by the devs.
