Bugbear Entertainment has announced that their Early Access racing game, Wreckfest, will be making its way to the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One soon. The game will be available in an Early Access state on both consoles, and the developers have already opened up pre-orders for the physics-based racing title.
According to Bugbear, the demolition racer may not be complete on PC but it’s going to be entering into Early Access on other platforms regardless. They’ve opened up pre-orders, calling it the “best part” of the news even though the PC version of Wreckfest has been in Early Access development since 2014. The game is also $39.99, making it a fairly expensive Early Access title.
Recent user reviews reveal that gamers, backers and supporters of Bugbear’s Wreckfest are becoming increasingly disgruntled with the way the development has been handled for the title. Slow updates or sparse updates coupled with the hardly any news has killed confidence in a lot of gamers.
To make matters worse is that Bugbear appears to be dividing their time between Wreckfest and a new game that some investors have dumped some money into called Stuntfest.
The new Stuntfest title will see players building stunt arenas with a level-editor, completing the levels using crazy vehicles such as scooters and shopping carts. Pre-orders for that game have also opened up… what’s more is that it’s pre-orders for the Early Access version of Stuntfest. Pre-ordering the Early Access version of a game seems like it’s just asking for disaster.
Nevertheless, they have a late summer sale on both games on their official website. They end the press release by stating…
“We’re confident that we will be hitting all the rights chords with our most dedicated fans among both PC and console players, and make no mistake about it: we couldn’t have made it this far without you. Thank you!”
Be excited, but be wary.
Wreckfest is currently available right now on the Steam store in Early Access. They have no set date on when the game will be finished.
