Darksiders: Warmastered Edition Launches November 29th

THQ Nordic is using the Darksiders license to revive the franchise from last gen for this gen. They have plans on re-releasing the original game in a Warmastered Edition set to go live on November 29th next month for the PlayStation 4, Wii U, Xbox One and PC.

Over on the official THQ Nordic website they laid out some of the details for the remastered edition of the game – which, by the way, is not the definitive edition of the game – and it features 1080p native resolution for the home consoles, as well as 2x anisotropic texture filtering, and will be available for the PS4, Xbox One, PC and Wii U.

The game will run at a 60 frames per second refresh on the PS4 and Xbox One, but the Wii U version will be capped at 30fps.

It’s interesting because they don’t mention anything about the models, assets or levels being upgraded or improved over the last version, just that there will be higher resolutions and higher texture resolutions. They also don’t mention anything about shader improvements or lighting upgrades, but they do mention that the the “rendering improvements” have undergone a “rework”, whatever that means. On the upside, shadow resolutions have been upgraded and there will be post-processing effects.

The questing system, loot, super cool art-style based on the Darksiders comic book, and the character progression with RPG mechanics are also making a return to form. This is probably one of those games that really deserved a proper remaster with really high-end assets to push to the hardware to the max, because it would look super awesome with some of today’s top of the line rendering techniques, but alas based on the screenshots over on the official website it looks like it’s just getting the bare minimum upgrades.

You can look for Darksiders: Warmastered Edition ot go live starting November 29th for the PS4, Xbox One, PC and Wii U.
