Ginger: Beyond The Crystal Coming Soon To PS4, Xbox One And Steam

Badland Games and Drakhar Studio recently announced their new adventure game, Ginger: Beyond The Crystal, is set to arrive digitally for PS4, Xbox One and PC on October 25th and that a boxed retail edition of the game is set to go live on store shelves starting October 28th, exclusively for the PlayStation 4.

Ginger: Beyond The Crystal is a throwback adventure platformer based on classics like Croc, Crash Bandicoot and Conker’s Bad Fur Day. Players assume the role of Ginger as they attempt to rescue the world from being plunged into darkness. This includes traveling across three different worlds and completing 30 different levels.

You can check out the airy gameplay for this charming little third-person platformer by scoping out the three minute trailer below.

The levels may be available in plenty supply but they aren’t designed to be mind-numbingly hard or challenging to the point of becoming obtuse exercises in how to restrain oneself from throwing a controller at the wall. Instead, the collective gameplay will only make up for 15 hours total, which is not bad for game with 30 levels. That means you can complete about two levels per every hour, which seems about fair and would likely mean you could expect length or challenges to be similar to the Pandemonium series.

The core of the gameplay revolves around gathering resources and restoring your village. The game uses a colorful, charming art-style that seems fitting for a kid’s cartoon. You can unlock new abilities and powers to help Ginger along the way, and defeat enemies and overcome platforming puzzles across a wide array of levels designed after various motifs and themes.

Again, this game really does remind me of the boon of 3D platforming titles that came out during the latter half of the 1990s.

You can look for Ginger: Beyond The Crystal to launch for $14.99 on Steam, $19.99 on Xbox and PS4 via digital distribution, and €24.99 at retail for PS4.

The game will be available starting next week and you can learn more by visiting the official website.
