Instead of hunting zombies and trying to survive out in some apocalyptic city or forest, Ballistic Interactive offers players the chance to investigate strange happenings around town and battle unearthly creatures in Hellhunter. The game is currently on Kickstarter, and is set to release for PC sometime next year.
Hellhunter is described by the devs to be a supernatural hunting game. Other elements like investigative work and explorations will also play a pivotal role in the game, as well as RPG mechanics.
The game will have players assuming the role of a freelance hunter that seeks to build his career towards uncovering what killed his family. This is further explained below…
“Hellhunter is a supernatural investigative hunting RPG, where you assume the role of a freelance hunter building his career towards uncovering the ultimate terror. However in each chosen job, the level is procedurally generated, and the true identity of the supernatural creature is not revealed. It is up to you to explore and investigate it, which ultimately effects the fight at the end of every job, creating an intense and unique experience for every hunt.”
I should note that Hellhunter wouldn’t be a modern day indie game if it didn’t sport procedurally generated levels or places. Although the game will feature the much used mechanic, the overall feature will link into the story in finding the true horrors of the protagonist’s past, along with discovering so much more.
In addition to exploring locations around the city, it is entirely up to the player in finding demons and using the proper tracking tools to uncover evidence to find them. Traveling and taking up various offers is said to change the fight at the end of every job, which means your supernatural encounters will be different each time.
