King’s Quest: The Complete Collection Now Available At Retailers

The Odd Gentlemen’s take on Sierra Interactive’s classic point-and-click series complete collection has managed to find its way into retailers for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3 and PS4. The game is also available digitally for PC and home consoles. The developers recently announced that the physical rendition of King’s Quest: The Complete Collection is available right now at local and participating retailers.

It’s a little confusing but they explain that you won’t be able to play any of the other chapters without first owning King’s Quest Chapter 1: A Knight to Remember. If you purchase the complete collection or the season pass, they make it known that you should not buy any of the separate chapters or else you will be charged extra for them.

The way it’s setup, the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of King’s Quest: The Complete Collection physical retail box contains chapters 1 through 4, while chapter 5 is available separately as a free digital download. For Xbox 360 owners, if you buy the Complete Collection from retailers you’ll only be getting the first chapter on the disc. The other four chapters will need to be downloaded, for free, from the Xbox Store via digital download.

As I said, it’s a little confusing.

The physical collection comes with the news that King’s Quest Chapter 5: The Good Knight, is currently available for purchase on home consoles and PC.

The fifth chapter concludes the tale being told by King Graham, voiced by Christopher Lloyd, as he wraps up his final adventures as an aging king and royalty of Daventry.

The game has a bittersweet overtone to it that is more sad than it is nostalgic. However, the quintet of new chapters exploring Graham and his adventures will certainly help introduce new-school gamers to one of the most beloved old-school franchises that helped shape the very integrity and fabric of the point-and-click adventure game genre as we know it today.
