Nutaku Is Paying Devs To Add Sex, Nudity To Their Games
(Last Updated On: November 16, 2016)

Here’s some sweet news for the people who crave for politically incorrect culture to make a comeback amidst our increasingly politically correct society. Nutaku, the online distributor of adult games, ecchi content, NSFW visual novels and hentai software, announced that they have a $10 million dollar funding initiative to help finance developers to add sex and nudity to their games.

The initiative has already been applied to games like Crush Crush from Sad Panda Studios. All $10 million obviously isn’t going to one developer, but it will be diversified across multiple studios and multiple projects.

The idea is to pay devs to add some raunchy content to their title and take a step beyond the basic elements of the risque in order to appeal to Nutaku’s base of 23 million users (and counting).

According to Robert Mann, Nutaku’s Communications Manager, he mentioned in the press release as to why Nutaku was taking it upon themselves to invest the $10 million back into the development community to add NSFW content to games that might appeal to their audience…

“The goal of this significant investment is to jumpstart an industry with incredible potential,” […] “Adult gaming is uniquely poised for enormous growth, with consumers demanding more premium content, but developers have previously suffered from limited exposure due to the lack of distribution platforms. We are creating a space for gamers and studios to explore a new territory bursting with consumer interest.”

It is true that there’s definitely an audience for adult-oriented games, but most distribution outlets will either not allow for AO (Adults Only) rated titles, or if they do allow for AO games they can’t be for explicitly perverse or gratuitous sexual content. It’s why a game like Hatred is allowed on Steam but the uncensored versions of the Sakura VNs from Winged Cloud are not.

Of course, there’s a lot of red tape and a lot of certification and other issues involved with allowing certain kinds of adult material on distribution services, and companies like Valve likely don’t want to have to do deal with policing the ins and outs of sexual content on Steam due to the fact that Steam is a global digital distributor and certain regions have very strict laws about the distribution of certain kinds of (sexual) content in that region. So Valve complies with those laws while also still affording gamers the opportunity to get their sexy-time on by downloading the NSFW or 18+ patches using the Steam forums. They have no qualms about developers issuing the patches to the game that way.

Nutaku, however, is out-and-out 18+ and they go full-on hardcore with the kind of content they allow, basking in the sensual depravities of whatever creative depths the developers are willing to indulge. They want to extend beyond just the 18+ games, though, they also want to target the ecchi titles and the games peering over cusp of perversion. They want developers to get more risque with games that aren’t necessarily 18+, and that’s what the $10 million is for… to take it up a notch and open up the horizons of their potential audience.

Their main target is action-adventure games, RPGs, rogue-likes and strategy titles – mostly hardcore games aimed at hardcore gamers – and they want to introduce more 18+ content into those games.

According to the stats, the developers that do offer the uncensored versions of their games have a 90% return on investment within three months. That’s not bad. It means that on average it would mean four through five months of sales sees a profit from games with an uncensored or 18+ version for mature audiences.

This is a second funding initiative being propped up by Nutaku, in which they had another developer drive in distributing $2 million toward adult-themed games such as Road Redemption, Fist of Jesus and Girls on Tanks. They offer more info over on their NSFW official website.

Replace your shitty payment system with standard currency so I can just buy the game and not have to overpay on gold and maybe I’ll consider buying something from you.

IMHO it’s still at a stage trying to get drawn or textured dicks and vaginas into videogames. DLsite and Patreon are still way ahead in terms of serving the most depraved fetishes.

Little bit of hentai doesn’t hurt anyone.
