How To Save Your Game In Resident Evil 7

Capcom’s Resident Evil 7 is now out and about for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The game features a number of differences between the previous games in the series, including being in first-person and completely changing how enemy encounters work. Another big change has been the way you save your game.

In Resident Evil 7 you save your game using the cassette player.

You’ll need cassette tapes before you can save your game.

You’ll usually find the cassettes nearby the cassette player. The easier the game the more cassette tapes you’ll have access to.

Cassette Tape

The cassettes hold the description: “A tape used for recording. Put inside a tape recorder to use it.”

So long as the cassettes are located within your inventory, you’ll be able to save your game. Using the cassette player to save your game will consume a single cassette tape.

It might seem like a simple thing but if you’re used to having your hand held, the game can throw you into the thick of it without really knowing your right from your left or a zombie from a regenerator.

It’s also easy to assume that the cassette tapes would be used for playing audio logs, which is commonly how they’re used in most horror games.

Usually players scavenge the environment, find an audio log or recording and then play it back to listen to someone grovel about being trapped in space, or how they long to be with a loved one again, or how they’ve had bad constipation. In this case, the cassette tapes are used to record and save data, just as the description says.

If you weren’t following the game news and reports for Resident Evil 7 a small thing like that could easily be missed. Resident Evil 7 is out now for PC, PS4, Xbox One and the PlayStation VR headset.
