Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite Story Will Focus On Mega Man X

The Blue Bomber has been left by the wayside in recent years. Capcom has been nagged by the gaming community to do something worthwhile with Mega Man, but they’ve chosen not to… that is, until now. Capcom will be making Mega Man X the center of the story for the upcoming Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite.

Event Hubs pulled some key quotes from a video on the PlayStation YouTube channel. Director of production at Capcom, Michael Evans, explained…

“Another huge pillar of the game is going to be the story,” […] “For the first time, we’re getting to tell the story of how the worlds come together,” […] “Mega Man X is going to fit very deeply into the story along with Captain Marvel,”

Based on the announcement trailer for Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite it looks as if some cross-dimensional ripping and tearing has taken place and Mega Man X is in pursuit of the Infinity Stones. A lot of gamers have already been piecing together what they believe the story will entail and how characters like Ultron and Maverick will play foil to the efforts of Mega Man and Iron Man.

Speaking of which, Marvel Game’s Mike Jones explained that the story is what will help gamers acclimate to the characters, as it’s going to bridge together an explanation of how the crossover takes place, saying…

“Speaking from the Marvel side, the core of everything we, from filmmaking to TV to publishing, and games, is storytelling,”

“And so with the new emphasis on the cinematic story mode and the story of how these two universes collide, and how our characters meet and what that means, [that] drove a lot of the creative decisions for what characters to use,”

“If you want to enjoy a story that features all these characters that you wouldn’t see in any other Marvel game, or any other Capcom game. This is where you’re gonna see, you know, Mega Man X meets Iron Man, and what does that look like, what happens?”

I sure hope this means they won’t just limit the character roster to “story” characters, because seriously I really want to play as Punisher! And Blade! And the Winter Soldier (please)!

We haven’t heard much about the game since its announcement, but Capcom will be slowly unraveling the roster throughout the year leading up to the game’s release later in the fall. One highlight is that PC gamers won’t have to wait to get their hands on Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite because the game will launch simultaneously on PC, PS4 and Xbox one in late 2017. I don’t know about anyone else, but my body is ready.
