Wizard Fu Games is shaping up to release a game that mixes the likes of Hyper Light Drifter with the adventure aspects of The Legend of Zelda. Together this combination makes up the new game Songbringer. The indie adventure game will release for PC via Steam (not Early Access) and iOS sometime this year.

Songbringer holds the typical procedurally generated content feature at its core, which, I know, it’s an over used feature, but the game mixes it with the aesthetics of Hyper Light Drifter and the theme of The Legend of Zelda, creating a unique sci-fi universe.

Although that description above is likely found in various games across Steam or the indie scene in general, the story of Songbringer follows an unlikely hero that happens to find something that might save the universe from an ancient evil…

“You play the role of protagonist and accidental hero, Roq Epimetheos. With a propensity for partying and making music, he cruises the galaxy with his skybot Jib aboard the ship Songbringer, searching for verdant planets absent the presence of galactic police.”

It is said by the devs that you will be able to find the special Nanosword in a cave on Ekzerra that also plays a part in uncovering the ancient evil, but if you want you can choose to skip the sword altogether and form your own adventure in a generated overworld that is “non-linear”.

Upon choosing a six letter world seed when starting a quest, it will procedurally create a planet, overworld, secrets and dungeons. The planet will make puzzles, thematic locations, hidden side quests, and bosses that adapt to that planet’s theme.
