Styx: Shards Of Darkness Launch Trailer Takes A Dig At Assassin’s Creed

Leading up to the release of Styx: Shards of Darkness for PC, PS4 and Xbox One, Focus Home Interactive released the official launch trailer for the game, featuring a quick minute and 50 second rundown of what the game is about. Within that span they manage to show off the game’s thieving, climbing, hiding, combat and even manage to sneak in a nice little dig at Assassin’s Creed.

It’s funny that Styx mentions that you won’t find him running around in a white hoody, but that’s probably just mod-fuel for the modders to port over Ezio or Altair from the earlier Assassin’s Creed titles into Styx: Shards of Darkness.

Anyway, you can check out the launch trailer for the game below.

In the sequel to Styx: Master of Shadows, the little green goblin returns on a quest to retrieve a powerful scepter. The mission isn’t quite what it seems and Styx finds himself trapped inside of a lot of political intrigue and machinations that tip his world upside.

The trailer is put together in a way that shows the sarcastic side of the smarmy goblin as he attempts to con, cheat, sneak and steal his way to success.

The trailer even manages to throw in some medieval rap just for good measure.

The black comedy vibe of the story and the villainous portrayal of Styx definitely makes him a bit different from typical anti-heroes. He still carries the sidekick persona he sported in Cyanide’s underrated Of Orcs and Men.

Many of the commenters on the YouTube page likened him to a goblin version of Deadpool. I think that’s a fairly accurate description.

If you’re in the mood for a cooperative stealth game, you can look for Styx: Shards of Darkness to launch on the PC, PS4 and Xbox One on March 14th.
