Ylands, Sandbox Game Creation Software Coming To PC This Summer

This Summer there’s a new sandbox game on the way that puts the creative tools one needs to build a game, scenario or an open world to explore, right in the palms of your hands. The game goes by the name of Ylands and comes from Bohemia Interactive, which will hit PC via Steam Early Access.

Ylands features a built-in editor so that folks with creative minds can make whatever game mode, scenario or place to their liking. Content made in the editor can range from simple to complex game modes, which increases the amount of scenarios folks can make in the game.

“Ylands is both a sandbox exploration adventure and a platform for making custom games, ranging from simple scenarios to sophisticated game modes.”

Sporting a low-poly look that some may or may not enjoy, the title allows for the island to be populated with a  wide range of entities and objects. The low-poly design is on purpose, and it’s also said to be “highly modifiable” in terms of changing up the landscape, resources, weather, wildlife and climate zones.

Ylands also puts a wide variety of options in your hands so that you have control over your game experience. In addition to this, you will be able to play solo or online, alter how many lives you start with, or change other aspects of your game to fit your play style.

It is also worth mentioning that when you create a scenario, you can choose from a list of sounds to match specific actions. For instance, hit sounds, interaction noises and other sounds in-game can be altered to your liking.

Worlds can be as interactive as you want them to be, holding thousands of objects and items that can shape worlds by crafting different stuff or mining. Other features that include interaction with the world or placed content includes taming and riding animals, making potions with special properties, creating energy devices, building custom ships and more.

The game can also be played in first or third person so that you can experience a location as it was meant to be explored. Speaking of exploring, you can dive into the trailer for Ylands that shows in-game footage of some of the scenarios one can create.
