Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap Now Available For Nintendo Switch, PS4, XB1

DotEmu announced that Lizardcube’s Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap is now available for the Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch. Sorry PC gamers, you’re left out in the cold right now like a red-headed stepchild during a blizzard in the midst of a freezing cold winter thanks to that evil witch of a headmistress at the local convent.

But don’t fret too much, though. They still love PC gamers and the game Wonder Boy is still scheduled to release on the platform… just not right now. They have plans on pumping out a version for the glorious PCMR starting sometime this summer. They’ll roll out an official release date soon enough.

In the meantime, you can pick up a copy of the game for the other three platforms, with the Switch being the obvious lead between the home consoles (thanks to its portability). They even released the launch trailer for the Switch, which you can check out below.

As you can see, this remake of the classic Wonder Boy games is completely hand-drawn to give gamers an authentic, high-quality, HD retake on one of the old games that helped shape the 2D platformer genre in the past.

The characters animations look superb and there’s only a smorgasbord of superlatives to follow thereafter in order to describe the look, feel and movement for each of the characters featured in the game.

However, if you want to experience the platformer in its 8-bit, retro glory, you can do so by easily and quickly switching back and forth with the tap of a button.

They also have a completely remade and remastered soundtrack featuring a live orchestra, three different difficulty settings, two different default characters, and five different playable side-characters.

You can pick up a copy of Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap right now for the three major home consoles, or look for the title to launch at some point in June on Steam for PC. You can also wishlist the game via the Steam store to keep track of its availability.
