Beyond Good and Evil 2 Character Creator Lets You Create Hybrids, Humans, Dwarfs

Story content director Gabrielle Shrager talked about some more of Beyond Good and Evil 2’s character creation system, revealing that you can create everything from a harry midget to a tall tiger-man, and everything else in between.

Shrager doesn’t detail the exact specifications of the character creator or divulge too many details about how it will be setup, but she does reveal that you can choose between standard humans, hybrids or a combination of the two.

Shrager also explains that you can gather and build your crew by seeking out and finding various characters, or haphazardly encountering them while on a completely separate mission.

She also mentions that not every character you encounter and wish to add to your team may like you or your other crew mates. It sounds like there may be some Jagged Alliance-style affinity meters in play within Beyond Good and Evil 2 where you can get on the bad side of some characters and they’ll just take leave and you’ll have to find someone else to take their place.

It sounds ambitious but I remain cautious and skeptical until seeing it in action. They also talk with associate creative director Emile Morel who breaks down a bit more about how ships work, which you can check out below in the near three minute video.

Morel explains pretty much what Michel Ancel had talked about previously; players will start with a rickety vehicle at the beginning of the game and will have to upgrade their ride by carrying out and completing missions.

They briefly talk about a hover bike that’s apparently pretty fast and one of the early vehicles in the game. Morel mentions that it won’t be your starting vehicle but it’ll be pretty low on the totem pole.

One of the other things they mention is that your crew will affect your ship’s stats. You’ll need to gather up a decent party if you want to make any headway in stacking your ship’s stats and improving its performance.

There’s a meta-game in Beyond Good and Evil 2 where players will need to find the right crew and the right ship to get things to gel so that they can rock and roll in space without any trouble.

There’s no release date for the game but you can sign-up for the beta program over at the BGEGame.com website.
