Dragon Quest XI Gains New Screenshots, Western Release Rumored To Be Set

Square Enix has updated its official website for the upcoming 11th Dragon Quest game entitled “In Search of Departed Time”. The update sees a batch of new screenshots detailing characters and locations, which is followed by a rumor that the Western release for said RPG is set in motion. Dragon Quest XI: In Search of Departed Time is slated to drop for PS4 and Nintendo 3DS.

If you happen to fancy screenshots of Dragon Quest XI: In Search of Departed Time, there are a new batch of stills showing DQXI and its various characters for you to look over. The images that are now visible to see can be found over on its updated main site. The stills showcase and explain the characters Martina and Row, and the town of Grotta.

Starting with the characters first, the melee character Martina is said to be a fighter who travels the world with Row in order to carry out a special task. Her strong legs are noted to boast unrivaled destructive power, which are matched by her elegant beauty and commanding demeanor; she is said to be more than just an ordinary fighter, though.

As for Row, the old man of many mysteries appears of having a staff and large luggage like that of any other traveler, but he wields the ability to use advanced spells and hones extraordinary martial arts. Row’s unfathomable hidden abilities are said to be something of a specialty.

Looking past the characters, the update focuses on the town of Grotta — a flourishing town in the northern part of the continent. The town holds a “Masked Fighters Tournament” where masked fighter battle each other in pairs. During tournament season, the town is bustling with tourist and fighters that gather to test their strength in an arena in hopes to win.

The screenshots showing the characters and locations sit below for you to look over.

Lastly, according to publication site GameRant, the Western release date is rumored to be set according to gamer.nl. The former site notes that the latter publication has been in contact with a Netherlands-based PR company which has the contract for Dragon Quest XI’s Western release. The rumor regarding DQXI’s Western release should be taken with a grain of salt given that Square Enix has not revealed anything regarding the RPG’s Western release, but if the latter publication is correct the West will be getting DQXI sometime in the near future.

Speaking of release dates, Dragon Quest XI: In Search of Departed Time is set to launch for PS4 and Nintendo 3DS on July 29th in Japan, and also has a Switch version that has no release date yet.
