Apotheon Complete Gameplay Walkthrough Guide

Alientrap Games recently released Apotheon for the PS4 and PC. The game has been in the making for a short while and instantly caught the attention of some gamers thanks to its Greek-pottery inspired art-style and open-world design. Well, for those of you having a hard time getting past some of the segments, or looking for a detailed walkthrough to see what the gameplay is like, a complete gameplay walkthrough guide is available.

YouTuber Thornful has a series of gameplay videos in a playlist covering the side-scrolling, hack-and-slash, platforming-RPG. And yes, Apoetheon fits well into all of those categories. Its design is similar to classics like Super Metroid and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

I’m not going to hold you up any longer from getting in on the goods, you can check out the 19 video walkthrough series below. The game is only a few hours long but there’s enough meet there to provide some gamers with a worthwhile bit of replayability. Check it out below.

It’s funny that the controls seem to require a bit of getting used to – the fighting and combat is a little unwieldy, but once you get the hang of the attacking and blocking mechanics, it all looks a heck of a lot smoother further into play.

The locked doors and ability to venture around and scour the environments reminded me a lot of Capcom’s Dungeons & Dragons games, as well as Windforge from Snowed In Studios.

Surprisingly, the game moves at a steady pace and you shouldn’t find yourself stuck, but if you do the walkthrough above offers some quick hints and tips for accessing various areas or getting out of thick situations.

Most notably, the game’s graphics and art-style really do stand out. It’s a pleasure to see developers take these sort of risks and experiment with different ways of depicting classic or tried-and-true genres. While the gameplay mechanics in Apotheon aren’t much above the likes of the original Prince of Persia, the new way of approaching the genre – combined with the great music and dramatic story – helps breath new life into old concepts. I love it.

You can pick up a digital copy of Apotheon right now for the PS4 and PC. Need to learn more about the game? Feel free to pay a visit to the official website.
