From Star Ocean 4 to Star Ocean 5 Tri-Ace has really taken to advancing the game’s under-the-hood tech to boost the visual quality of the game… that or the latest bit of screenshots are all just PR bullshots. Either way, Star Ocean 5: Integrity and Faithlessness actually looks pretty darn good on the graphics front.
The screenshots were uploaded by Final Fantasy Ring, the French JRPG fan-site that covers almost all things Square Enix.
The shots are all in-game – and presumably captured from the PS4 – with the graphics looking crisp, clean. We get to see some of the varied locations that gamers will travel to throughout their journeys, ranging from the typical Renaissance-themed villages to the more fantastical sci-fi elements that the Star Ocean series is known for. You can check out the screenshots below.
I imagine that mage with the green hair and the cutout-checkered outfit would probably trigger a lot of the so-called “SJWs” because she would likely give a lot of the beta males an unwanted boner and make the females feel threatened that a woman could be both empowered and sexy at the same time. For normal people they’ll just enjoy the visuals and proceed to lay a butt kicking on the bad guys.
Star Ocean 5 is scheduled for release presumably sometime in 2016 on the PS3 and the PS4. Sadly, the PS3 version is the lead platform, which leads me to believe the screenshots above might be bullshots and not actual captures from the game running on the console hardware, unless the PS4 version is further along than the developers let on.
Anyway, Tri-Ace is focusing more on getting the game back to the roots that they established with Star Ocean 3, but with some advancements in the tech offered by today’s tools. We’ll see how well it all comes together as more media assets seep out into the public leading up to the game’s release. You can check out the rest of the screenshots for Star Ocean 5 over on the Final Fantasy Ring.
