Another fighter has been added to the roster of Tekken 7, this time it’s none other than mama Mishima, Kazuya’s mother and Jin’s grandmother. She sure does seem to know how to keep up appearances because she puts some 20-year-olds to shame.
Event Hubs dropped the details on the story behind Kazumi, revealing that she’s the carrier of the devil gene and that she was killed by Heihachi Mishima before the events of the first Tekken. Jerry Springer’s stage isn’t big enough for the dysfunctional family ties shared between the Mishima bloodline. Anyway, you can check out Kazumi’s trailer below.
Very, very impressive. That round-house to crescent kick combo at the 0:29 mark is absolutely sick.
A lot of her moves still seem to be a combination of other character moves (but we’ve all come to expect that from Tekken fighters) but Harada and the crew managed to include a few original specials that actually stand out. The tiger moves are kind of funny but they could be pretty deadly when catching opponents off guard.
And the tiger uppercut… it’s literally a tiger uppercut. Is that Harada’s way of poking jabs at Yoshinori Ono and Sagat’s tiger moves from Street Fighter? Kind of seems like it.
Anyway, Tekken 7 is shaping up nicely just the same as Street Fighter V is shaping up nicely. Between the two I can’t say which one I’m really looking forward to the most because each one seems to have something unique at its core, whether it’s the deep customization aspects of Tekken or the dynamic, anime-inspired fighting mechanics in Street Fighter V, both games seem to be gunning to be the best at what they’re aiming to achieve. We’ll also get to see a lot more of both brands come E3 and later on at EVO.
