Empyrion: Galactic Survival Update Improves Performance

Eleon Game Studios’ Empyrion – Galactic Survival recently entered Early Access on Steam, and seems to be favored by its community. The devs plan to keep the game in Early Access for a year, while they iron out some of its bugs. One of the latest updates has improved the game’s performance for 64-bit systems.

Over on the Steam update page Eleon Game Studios mentioned that the patch would help a lot of average or mid-ranged PCs achieve 60fps far easier than before…

“we are very excited to release a small patch (Pre-Alpha 3.2.1) with a potentially huge impact on those of you who play Empyrion on an average PC. Depending on the complexity of the game scene, you may experience a doubling of FPS (keep in mind that the FPS is limited to 60 in Empyrion).”

Empyrion has been in Steam’s Early Access since August and only runs on 64-bit versions of Windows 7, 8 and 10. The space traveling game looks interesting, but at the same time it doesn’t look so great graphically. I know it’s an indie project, but I just wish some of the animations and graphics could be a bit better and then I would be cool with it. However, it seems like the fans of this game see more potential in the mechanics and building than the graphics though.

In addition, a lot of folks really enjoy space battles and planet venturing in this game, which does seem pretty interesting. Fans also seem to like the whole building aspect of the game that provides players to repair broken parts of your ship, create stuff from scratch or rearrange certain objects.

Doing some research, a new video by Kage848 shows us quite a bit of the crafting features and how to build items on ground and in space. The video runs for 23 minutes and basically centers around him building a new ship out in space, as seen below.

I do have to admit I like building things and I also like space games, and both of those features are in Empyrion. Moreover, the game has a lot of little things that play a large part in the game like oxygen, gravity, mining asteroids, and eating, which adds to the theme of a space survival.

In addition, looking back at some of the older footage of the game I can see where the devs increased the graphics and fixed some of the animations up, which the devs fixed up back in Pre-Alpha update 3.2.0.

So far, the game holds a “very positive” rating on Steam and seems to be well accepted. If you want to try this game out, you can head on over to Steam and get it for $17.99. Or you can hit up the devs official site for additional info.
