Minecraft Story Mode Episode 1 Complete Gameplay Walkthrough

The first episode for Telltale Games’ Minecraft: Story Mode has released for home consoles and PC, and gamers have been getting in some game time with the adventure game based on the popular adventure game. Unlike the original Minecraft from Mojang the game is a story that follows Jesse and his or her friends.

The story starts off pretty slow but it keeps escalating after the credits roll half an hour in. The game takes a Cthulhu-esque turn as it moves in and it gets intense… real intense. Nukem Dukem did a complete walkthrough of the game from start to finish and you can check it out below.

The gameplay is pretty basic but it does require some quick reflexes at times. There’s one particular moment when you get to Gabriel’s obsidian fortress where you’re fighting the wither monster and you have to pick between Petra and Gabriel – if you react fast enough you can cut the wither’s tentacle, but it happens really quickly.

There’s mostly just quick-time events throughout the game, and it obviously seems designed for young kids. There are a few crafting segments that are reminiscent to the crafting in the original Minecraft games but it’s very limited. The fighting is actually not that bad, as it’s mostly just point and click; limited but serviceable.

While the game received a lot of hate when it was first showcased and a lot of Telltale fans thought the game was nothing more than a cheap cash-in, the reality is that the story in Minecraft Story Mode is actually better than the story in Telltale’s Game of Thrones and Tales From The Borderlands titles.

The first episode can be played and conquered in about two and a half hours. It’s not terribly long but it’s actually a lot more intense than Tales From The Borderlands when it comes to character dynamics and unpredictable moments.

Minecraft Story Mode is available right now and you can learn more about the game by paying a visit to the official website.
