Empyrion: Galactic Survival Updated With New Dedicated Servers

Eleon Game Studios recently updated their space survival game Empyrion: Galactic Survival. The game now allows players to play the game through dedicated servers, and they’ve also included a single-player offline mode for people to play when they don’t want to be bothered online.

The press release is pretty bare bones but there’s an update over on the Steam page where they detail some of the new changes in version 4.0.2. The update mostly covers minor changes to drop rates for various resources, as well as fixing some issues with AI enemies not attacking on dedicated servers. There was also a rather unpleasant bug that showed single-player games in the server browser – just imagine how surprised someone would be getting invaded by some space trolls just looking to wreak havoc and destroy stuff?

Speaking of trolls and griefing… they actually mention in the update that they will work out a faction system for PvP, PvE and ownership to avoid some of the griefing that happens in the game.

For those of you completely confused about Empyrion: Galactic Survival you can check out the original launch trailer below.

The game is kind of like a mix of Minecraft, Space Engineers and Star Citizen. Players start off stranded on a planet and must gather resources after their escape pod crashes, and build up a habitat to live from while eventually building a ship that can travel to different planets. I can’t say if it’s better or worse than Space Engineers because that’s a player preference, but I do prefer the physics and destruction in Space Engineers a bit more. Nothing really tops ramming another ship at full speed and watching it scatter into little pieces after breaking clean in half.

Anyway, Empyrion: Galactic Survival is currently available in Early Access over on Steam. The game is currently 33% off following the latest update, so instead of paying $17.99 it’s available for only $12.05.

You can either learn more about the game by checking out the Early Access page or by visiting the game’s official website.
