Total War: Warhammer Delayed To May 24th; System requirements Revealed

Creative Assembly’s Total War: Warhammer has been slightly delayed in its release, being pushed to the end of May. PC gamers who were looking forward to the game can now expect to see the real-time strategy game launching on May 24th.

As reported by Blues, Mike Simpson, the creative director for Total War: Warhammer explained in the news about the delay that…

“This could be the best Total War game we’ve ever made. We don’t want to rush it,” […] “It’s an enormous game and we also want to make absolutely sure reviewers have enough time to play it thoroughly before launch. Many thanks to the huge number of people who have pre-ordered and are eagerly awaiting release day. We’re pulling out all the stops for you.”

It is a pretty big game but it did receive a bit of flak when it was revealed that the Chaos faction would be pre-order DLC. There was some serious rage that flowed through the buttocks of gamers who were pissed to find that one of their favorite factions would require some extra financial commitment on their part. It’s safe to say that the butthurt was palpable enough for Pfizer’s stocks to go up by a sizable amount due to all the Preparation H that sold that day.

Anyway, in addition to announcing that Total War: Warhammer was delayed to May 24th, they also revealed the game’s system requirements.

They dumped the system reqs over on the Total War wiki page where they not only reveal the minimum and recommended specs but also reveal what sort of frame-rate performance you’ll get out of the game based on the listed specs. Now that’s how you do a system requirement roll out.

PC Minimum Specifications:
[Expected around 15-25 FPS on campaign map and in a 1v1, 20 units vs 20 units battle, default graphics preset set to “Low”]
Operating System: Windows 7 64Bit
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 3.0Ghz
RAM: 3GB*
Hard Drive: 35 GB
Video Card: (DirectX 11) AMD Radeon HD 5770 1024MB | NVIDIA GTS 450 1024MB | Intel HD4000 @720P
*PC integrated graphics chipsets require 4GB ram, e.g. Intel HD series

PC Recommended Specifications:
[Expected around 45-55 FPS on campaign map and in a 1v1, 20 units vs 20 units battle, default graphics preset set to “High”]
Operating System: Windows 7/8.1/10 64Bit
Processor: Intel Core i5-4570 3.20GHz
RAM: 8 GB
Hard Drive: 35 GB
Video Card: (DirectX 11) AMD Radeon R9 270X 2048MB | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 2048MB @1080P

PC 60fps+ Specifications:
[Expected 60 FPS+ on campaign map and in a 1v1, 20 units vs 20 units battle, default graphics preset set to “Ultra”]
Operating System: Windows 7/8.1/10 64Bit
Processor: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0 GHz
RAM: 8 GB
Hard Drive: 35 GB
Video Card: (DirectX 11) AMD Fury X or Nvidia GTX 980 @1080P

So you’ll need a really high-end PC if you want to play the game on the highest settings defaulted to “Ultra” and at 60 frames per second. That Fury X and GTX 980 requirement, though… dang. That’s really push the boundaries. You’ll need a serious Master Rig to run the game on max.

You can look for Total War: Warhammer to go live for PC on May 24th, in case you missed it. For more info feel free to visit the official Total War website.
