How To Capture Creatures In Fallout 4

Now that the Workshop DLC is out for Fallout 4, those looking to capture anything lurking around the wasteland will find that the process has a little bit more to it than just hunting for specific creatures. The workshop DLC is available across PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

To be honest I’m not a huge fan of the Workshop DLC, but it does bring with it a pretty interesting feature of capturing wild wasteland creatures and then taming them. This works with animals like cats, Mirelurks, Death Claws and other creatures.

Once you are in the workshop mode for building stuff, head to the far right and you should see a new option called “Cages.” After selecting that you will see three sets of cages labeled as small, medium and large.

Additionally, small holds cages for creature like cats, dogs, mole rats and mutant hounds. As for medium, it holds cages for feral ghouls, gorillas, gunners, Insects, Raiders and Super Mutants. For large, it holds cages for Brahmins, Death Claws, Mirelurks, Radscorpians, Radstags and Yao Guais.

After collecting the right materials to build your cage, set it down and connect it to a generator. You will also need to build a separate item so that you can tame whatever is in or out of the cage. This item is the Beta Wave Emitter, which should be connected to its own generator so that your captured creatures in the cage won’t go crazy when opening the doors with the first generator.

After having all of the essentials setup for capturing stuff, head either outside and venture from your settlement or keep sleeping back to back for around three to five days to capture something. And that’s basically it. You can check out Demon Asylum‘s video guide that goes over the basics of building cages and taming wasteland creatures below.

Fallout 4 is out now for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. If you want to get the latest DLC for Fallout 4, it currently runs for $4.99, and adds quite a bit of settlement and workshop features. There’s still another big expansion on the horizon for Fallout 4, so expect to hear more about it in the coming weeks.
