Dex, Cyberpunk RPG Set To Arrive On Xbox One, PS4 July 8th

More cyberpunk goodness, this time for home console gamers. The crowd-funded indie-RPG from Dreadlocks and Badland Games, called Dex, has just received its official release date for the Xbox One and PS4.

According to Gaming Conviction, the PS Vita version and Wii U version of Dex are still on the way, only they’re going to be slightly delayed compared to the eighth-gen twins.

The news about the release was made available through a trailer that only clocks in at a minute long that you can check out below.

I love the concept of this game and the fact that you can walk around in a 2D cyberpunk city, exploring the locale and talking with people. The multi-varied combat that includes shooting, platforming and stealth adds to the appeal. The animations are kind of rough around the edges, but at least it makes up for it with a lot of gameplay variety.

The news about Dex coming to consoles wasn’t just a one-off, though. Over on the Steam page it was announced that the side-scrolling RPG will also make the leap from Steam to GOG.com, where the developer states…

“As you may know, Dex has already been refused twice by GoG and it looked like that was, well, that. But we hate giving up, so we contacted GoG again and reopened negotiations. Successfully this time. So, it is with great joy that we announce Dex is set to become available on GoG in the coming months and will include support for achievements via GoG Galaxy.”

Well, that’s good news for those who wanted a DRM-free copy of the game. Also, GOG Galaxy is some nice software… it works really well and looks sleek. I haven’t tried with the Steam Controller yet so I don’t know what sort of support it has for it but at least it works.

As mentioned at the top of the article, the PS Vita and Wii U versions of Dex are also still inbound, just at a later date than the home console release for the Xbox One and PS4.

Dex - PS Vita

They plan on announcing the release dates for the Wii U and PS Vita a little later. In the meantime, Dex is available on PC through Steam for $19.99. The game originally launched around this time in May back in 2015. You can learn more about it or pick up a digital copy for yourself by paying a visit to the Steam store page.
