Pico Neo VR Headset To Debut At E3 On June 14th

E3 2016 will likely be the E3 of VR. Quite a few virtual reality related projects are expected to make their presence known at this year’s trade show and one of those projects happens to be Pico Interactive’s Pico Neo, a VR head mounted display.

The company announced that between June 14th and June 16th at the South Hall, booth 2800 in the LA Convention Center, they’ll be demonstrating their new HMD for attendees.

According to Henry Zhou, CEO of Pico Interactive, this new HMD will be a step up from the other Android based VR headsets thanks to the technology that powers it, mentioning in the press release…

“The Pico Neo is a substantial leap in VR technology, featuring the portability of smartphones and tablets and combining stand-alone functionality and the high performance of dedicated systems through the Snapdragon 820 processor,”

“As we move towards launch, E3 represents a significant milestone in the platform’s development and we are quite eager to see how the virtual reality and video game community embraces and experiences our flagship product.”

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor will be accompanied by two independent 1k AMOLED display units to allow for HD rendering.

As you can see in the image above, the Pico Neo also comes with a wireless controller. It sports two utility buttons, four face buttons and a digital pad. It’s designed for Android games but don’t expect for it to offer you anywhere near the same kind of gameplay experience as the Rift or Vive’s 3D positional wireless controllers.

The controller and the headset were both designed to be lightweight VR solutions, probably ideal for little kids.

The Pico Neo will be available for order from online e-tailers as well as physically at some select retailers this fall. The headset will support games and other entertainment and productivity apps. You can learn more about Pico Interactive’s Pico Neo by hitting up the official website.
