Return 2 Games: Book Of Demons, RPG-Deck Builder Set To Hit Steam This Summer

Thing Trunk’s latest game comes in the form of a top down, deck building RPG for PC. The game sports a paper pop-out look that includes the classic point and click, dungeon crawler control scheme that games like Baldur’s Gate are known for. Return 2 Games: Book Of Demons will be out during the summer of this year.

Looking to the bottom of the comment section of the trailer below, the dev notes to another game dev that the team wanted a unique pop-out book look for Book of Demons. I do have to admit that the art style is very prominent even if one finds it to be an eye-sore. Speaking of the looks of the game, you view the 3D paper RPG from top-down similar to the original Diablo. It also seeks to feature classic elements of the “golden days of PC gaming,” which is said to make it more than a typical game one would pick up and drop, due to the amount of skill it requires.

“Book of Demons is an upcoming, deck-building hack and slash adventure, where it’s the player who decides the length of quests! The game is the first installment of Return 2 Games – a series of original mid-core titles, inspired by the early golden days of PC gaming.”

Joining the skill spectrum, deck building will be something that players will need to rely on to rout their enemies out of plain sight. There will be other means to rid enemies, this consists of hacking and slashing them the old fashion way, or using different classes’ skills and abilities.

The campaign offers three classes to master which includes the warrior, rogue and mage classes. This is also joined by the Freeplay mode that lets players revisit challenges and quests, as well as exploring dungeons more in-depth than in the campaign. In addition, this allow for a longer campaign since it doesn’t end when the Archdemon is slain, providing optional play between the Freeplay and campaign modes.

If this seems like a game that one needs to check out, folks can take a visual look by watching the two minute long trailer, courtesy of Thing Trunk‘s YouTube channel.

Lastly, the game will also head to Xbox One when it drops. This will also join the Steam Early Access release sometime this Summer. For more information on Thing Trunk and Return 2 Games: Book Of Demons, you can head on over to its official site.
