Star Trek Online has been out for a few years now and has gained quite the following among Star Trek Fans. For those of you that aren’t familiar with the video game series, I’ll give you a quick run down to tell you what it’s all about.

Developers Cryptic Studios and Perpetual Entertainment are the ones that have put the game together, with Atari Games and Perfect World Entertainment serving as Star Trek Online’s publishers. Players create their own character to serve as the captain and main hero of the Star Trek Online story. Over the years, Star Trek Online has added several expansions and upgrades to provide additional content and story elements. Players can choose from engineers, Science specialist, or focus on tactics for their career choice, as a well as a variety of different alien species and factions to choose from, ranging from Star Fleet, to Romulans, and Klingons.

The newest update is doing things a bit different. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Star Trek, Star Trek Online: Agents of Yesterday is going full retro and taking a blast to the past, returning back to the late 60s and 70s era of the TV series with original generation Star Trek content. Tight shirts with short flood pants and all. The new trailer was just announced earlier this morning, showcasing the new gameplay elements and content that will be coming this summer of 2016.

The below trailer shows space battles, new costumes, different planets, monsters, and combat sequences. There is even one scene that looks like Captain Kirk about to have a fist fight with a giant lizard creature in the desert. And Of course, Star Trek wouldn’t be Star Trek without a few iconic shots of the USS Enterprise and its bridge with the famous line “We will boldly go, where no one has gone before”.
