The Way, Classically Made Adventure Game Launches On Steam

Puzzling Dream and PlayWay S.A., recently released their way new title The Way onto Steam recently. The game is designed to be a classical side-scrolling adventure title, similar to games like Another World and Heart of Darkness.

The Way is a futuristic game where players will journey to a planet in order to restore the life of a lost loved one. The game seems very reminiscent to Future Wars, but instead of pointing and clicking, players will be able to run and jump and shoot.

Players will venture through an alien world while completing puzzles and averting danger.

Anyone who was a fan of classic console and PC games like No Escape and Generations Lost will likely love The Way. The game mixes in item acquisition and puzzle solving with some light stealth and platforming mechanics.

You can see some of the early parts of the gameplay courtesy of YouTuber Noxite. There’s a 43 minute Let’s Play video below that does a fine job of showcasing some of the game’s mechanics and a little bit of the early parts of the story. You can check out the video below.

The game’s sci-fi elements are complimented rather nicely with an awesome soundtrack that dabbles in ambient synth. It’s very similar to Vangelis’ Blade Runner soundtrack. It perfectly suits the atmosphere of the game.

Majority of the user reviews for the game are rather positive, and it’s not hard to see why. If you’re really into the retro themes and classic puzzle solving, shooting and platforming, The Way seems to be the way to go.

There are some negative reviews for the game, however, pointing out that some users found the bullet hell segments too hard, and that the other landspeeder mini-games were too difficult. Now if you’re the kind of gamer who “gets good” at games to overcome their difficulty, then it’s nothing to worry about. If you’re a video game journalists then you might want to skip The Way because video game journalists obviously aren’t going to “get good” at playing games.

Anyway, you can grab a copy of The Way right now from the Steam store for $14.99. For the first week of its availability you can get it for only $12.74 at 15% off the normal price. You can learn more about The Way by visiting the official website.
