BioShock: The Collection Offers Free Upgrade For PC Gamers Who Own Original Games

If you’re a PC gamer and you own the original copies of BioShock, BioShock 2 and BioShock: Infinite, there will be free upgrades offered to Steam users when the newly announced BioShock: The Collection launches on September 13th later this year.

According to the Inquisitr, 2K Games will be giving gamers the free upgrades this fall. But sadly it’s only going to be available for PC gamers. I guess here is as good as time as any to hail the Glorious PC Master Race, eh?

In addition to simply upgrading the trilogy of BioShock titles, the BioShock: The Collection bundle will also come with all of the previously released DLC for each of the three games, including Minerva’s Den, The Protector Trials, Burial at Sea‘s two episodes, Clash in the Clouds and Columbia’s Finest Pack.

There’s a brief glimpse of each of three remastered versions of the game with the announcement trailer for the remastered edition below.

Now for those of you who are more interested in the actual design aspects of the BioShock games, they’ve included director’s commentary from Ken Levine who talks about some of the design choices and themes that went into making each of the games.

This age of console gaming has really been highly disappointing so far. We’re about ready to enter into the ninth generation of gaming and there haven’t been any really high-end, notable console exclusives that rocked the boat. Majority of the Xbox One and PS4’s libraries have been composed of HD remasters or half-done remasters of games that were already in HD.

The upside to the news is that at least Steam gamers who own the BioShock trilogy will be able to get their hands on the remastered editions at no extra cost. Everyone else will have to put down some hard earned coined starting September 13th in North America and September 16th in Europe.
