Citadel Studios’ Shards Online Seeks Votes On Steam Greenlight

After a successful run on Kickstarter back in December 2014, Citadel Studios starting to polish Shards Online up so that the game could be functional graphically and mechanically. As of now, the developers seek to get the game on Steam Greenlight and want the MMORPG to be playable and finish at launch. The game is currently slated for PC later this year via Early Access.

For Greenlight standards this game blows a lot of its competition out of the water — as for being a MMORPG, it’s like any other click-to-move/attack games. Something worth pointing out is that Shards Online will be a subscription-free game that merges the likes of Ultima Online and Neverwinter Nights together.

Those who participated in the third pre-alpha backer trial (which went live in early December 2015) shouldn’t worry if the game will be delayed since the game will hit Steam Early Access later this year. So all of your hard earn cash will see fruition later, but while we wait the game is currently seeking votes on Greenlight and can be seen below in its newest trailer.

As you can see the game looks a lot like any other point and click MMO, but if you are looking for a newer version of that genre, I think that this game will give folks what they are looking for due to its success on Kickstarter.

Looking over to the mechanics, the game currently contains over 20 skills, 15 combat abilities, 20 plus spells and more. The game also features PvE and PvP, and penalties on death that are said to range from being light to harsh. To avoid death frequently, guilds and clans can be formed with different alliances to create full functioning factions set across the land.

Dungeon exploring and boss battles will be something common in the world of Shards Online, as well as loot. In an attempt to make dungeon and world exploration meaningful, character customization will be affected by finding new gear and weapons, and can be changed at the start with various custom options.

Lastly, the game will sport community servers 24/7 so that players can create and mod their very own custom content and play with others. It’s also noted that some modding will make its way into Early Access, too.

With that said, the game is currently on Greenlight and seeking votes. If you want to support or learn more about Citadel Studios and Shards Online, you can head on over to Steam Greenlight.
