E3 2016: Dishonored 2 Gameplay Trailer Reveals Weather Effects, Stealth Powers

Arkane Studios had previously talked about some of the powers and new abilities they were implementing into Dishonored 2, but we weren’t able to see them in action. Well, for the first time since the game was revealed last year, Bethesda and Arkane unleashed some gameplay footage during the E3 press conference, giving gamers a very clear idea of how some of the new abilities and world mechanics could best be utilized to their advantage.

We see the new Shadow Walker skill in action, allowing gamers to make use of arcane dark magic to take out foes. We see the teleportation in action, giving gamers an opportunity to quickly zip and zoop around the levels unseen. We get to see the Domino skill in effect – something that’s been talked about quite often leading up to the game’s big E3 reveal – where it connects a number of NPCs together so no matter what happens to one NPC, it happens to all of them connected by the Domino skill.

I’ll stop rambling in the form of text so that you can exercise your eyes on the goodness that Arkane put on display at this year’s E3 conference. Check it out below, courtesy of MKIceandFire.

Corvo and Emily end up fleeing from Dunwall and traveling to an all new location in an attempt to unravel the conspiracy that has both their lives put into danger.

The city sandbox is a lot larger this time around. There are more places to hide and new AI enemies to face off against. They can also scale walls, climb fences, and chase you down if they need to. According to Dishonored 2’s creative director, Harvey Smith, the NPCs will have routines that include where they sleep, where they live, where they eat and where they sleep. The routines can be used to a player’s advantage when venturing throughout the city, as well as how the AI behavior can be manipulated to a player’s advantage.

Swords, guns, countering and blocking all make a return, along with the brand new inclusion of dynamic weather effects.

Sandstorms, rain and thunderstorms can take place that can help or hinder a player depending on what their objective is. During the E3 demonstration we see that the sandstorm worked to Emily’s advantage, giving her some cover as she was able to sneak up on the enemy and take him out under the cover of the sandstorm. These kind of dynamic weather instances will happen throughout the game, affording players the opportunity where they can plan their attacks or infiltration tactics around these instances.

Dishonored 2 is scheduled to release for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC starting November 11th, 2016.
