E3 2016: The Last Guardian Launches October 25th, 2016

The PlayStation 4 exclusive that’s been in development for a decade is finally launching for the PlayStation 4. After completely missing its target as a PS3 release title, the Sony exclusive will arrive this fall on October 25th for the global gaming audience.

The news was revealed during the E3 2016 trailer for The Last Guardian, which went live during the Sony E3 press conference on Monday, June 14th. Sony was keen on dropping as many promise-bombs as possible, some of which I get the feeling as if they have no intentions of fulfilling. However, one of those promises seems like it must come to fruition and that’s the release of The Last Guardian arriving on October 25th, later this year.

The newest trailer introduces another dynamic to the story of The Last Guardian, including the revelation that the giant puppy-dog monster’s wings appear to be broken. You can check out the trailer below.

There’s nothing really new that the trailer showcases other than some enemy NPCs and another giant puppy-monster that hops down.

I was kind of hoping we could see more of the levels beyond that same level we keep getting shown during each every single E3 since this game came back onto the scene. I mean, do the two of them go anywhere else beyond those ruins within that tower? Hopefully we’ll find out when the game launches on October 25th.

So far, The Last Guardian appears to be a platforming puzzle game that centers very heavily on the relationship between the little boy and the puppy-monster.

Graphically the game isn’t anything to write home about. The physics systems for the feathers and the puppy-monster’s animations are spot on. The stage deconstruction is also spot on, but it’s not like the game has the greatest textures, lighting system or mesh designs. Outside of the physics, everything else looks passable for what it is.

You can look for The Last Guardian to launch exclusively on the PlayStation 4 starting October 25th.
