Furi Is Free Throughout July For PS Plus Members

Six free games are being handed out by Sony throughout July across the three major PlayStation platforms. Two games for PS4 users, two games for PS3 users and two games for PS Vita users.

Each of the titles were outlined over on the PlayStation Blog, where Sony revealed that PS4 owners will be going to hell… as Gat and Kinzie in Saints Row: Gat out of Hell. It’ll be one of the two free games for PS4 owners released throughout July. The second game is the super-badass hack-and-slash title Furi. You probably don’t remember it because it hasn’t been in the news all that much, but the game is righteous. Grab a look with your eyeballs below.

Good goodness… that music.

Now see, if you’re going to give away a free game that’s how you give away a free game.

Furi is like the sexed crazed older brother to Hyper Light Drifter that got addicted to a neon case of Ecstasy.

Players will hack, slash, shoot and dodge their way through a plethora of enemies in brightly lit arenas doused in over-saturated colors. The Game Bakers added some funky sizzle to this game and the retro synthwave is beautiful.

I love it.

And then there’s the other games on the PS Plus list that are being given away for free. A 30 second promo spot rolls through them quickly, giving you barely a look at each one in the process.

The full list of games can be viewed below.

  • Furi, PS4
  • Saints Row: Gat out of Hell, PS4
  • Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood, PS3
  • Fat Princess, PS3
  • Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines, PS Vita
  • Prince of Persia: Revelation, PS Vita

As is usual, most PlayStation Plus subscribers are not pleased. They mention that the only worthwhile game on the list is Furi given that you can grab Gat out of Hell for a couple of bucks right now over on the Steam store during the Summer Sale.

To be fair, though, Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines is a pretty cool game and you can definitely squeeze a lot of mileage out of that turn-based RPG. Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood is kind of on the trash side, though.

Anyway, if those games aren’t enough there’s also an extra bonus: PS4 gamers can play Paragon a month ahead of its official August 16th release date. Additionally they’ll get access to a free Starter Pack worth $40. Not bad.

I still think the Xbox’s Games With Gold for July offers the better deals, especially with TRON: Evolution and Banner Saga 2 leading the pack… Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 is no slouch, either.
