Injustice 2 Not Coming To PC, But It Will Feature Customization
(Last Updated On: June 8, 2016)

NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment officially announced Injustice 2 following a mistaken leak by GameStop, who inadvertently took a piss in the cereal of the developers and publishers by letting the cat out of the bag early. Well, no worries, Warner Bros., and NetherRealm rolled with the punches and officially announced Injustice 2.

The second game adds a number of new features to the line-up, including vastly improved graphics, a couple of new characters on the roster – such as Supergirl – and the ability to customize the heroes with various armor types. You can check out the debut trailer below.

Ed Boon, the creative director at NetherRealm Studios commented about the new game and some of its features, mentioning in the press release…

“In Injustice 2, we are introducing new features that will change the way fans play fighting games,” … “We’re always interested in pushing the genre forward and allowing players to customize and level-up their favorite DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains is a significant leap.”

They don’t detail just how much customization will be afforded to players, but they do mention that it’s possible to unlock new gear by playing through the game and upgrading the heroes and villains of your choosing.

Speaking of the characters, Gorilla Grodd and Atrocitus will be joining the roster this time around, along with Supergirl. Returning characters like Superman, Batman, Aquaman and the Flash will make the cut, along with many of the recognizable super-villains from the DC Universe.

Warner Bros., also made it known that those who download and play Injustice: Gods Among Us for mobile devices will unlock two special versions of Aquaman and Superman for Injustice 2 when the game launches next year.

Now here’s where things get a little hairy for gamers: if your primary gaming platform is PC, you’re screwed.

According to the press release Injustice 2 is only coming to the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One in 2017. No PC mention at all.

Following the Batman: Arkham Knight fiasco last year on PC, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has slowly phased out their support for PC gamers, no longer offering patches, updates or DLC. The upcoming Batman: Return to Arkham is not coming to PC, and Batman: Arkham Knight GOTY Edition is not coming to PC. The Mortal Kombat XL Edition also did not arrive on PC. And now, they’re announcing that Injustice 2 is only coming to PS4 and Xbox One.

I’m not too fond of the console versions of games and I’m certainly not fond of games limited to 30fps, so they may have already lost a customer in me if they can’t get the game on PC. Anyway, expect to see and learn more about the new characters, customization features and arenas when Injustice 2 inevitably makes an appearance at this year’s E3.

So someone in a boardroom somewhere went, because we fu*ked up Batman, we will not even attempt to release on PC, because “reasons”. In their attempt to not fu*k up they double down on another fu*k up.

Since Nether is now WB toy, I wonder what will happen to the MK franchise. After MK X debacle, I’m really inclined to abandon the series forever. And I think it will be easy since I’m not going to get new consoles, and they are no going to release on PCs either.

  • “they may have already lost a customer”

    Uhh, they lost plenty.

Warner Bros. Didn’t they epically screw up the PC port of the last Batman game?

    • Sevuz

They sure did and it took them like 4 months to somewhat fix + both MKX and the first Injustice game has major problems with they net code on PC and frame rate bugs

      • C G Saturation

Didn’t know those games were broken too. Terrible.

        • Sevuz

Yeah WB don’t care about QC at all.

    • They sure did… more like High Voltage, the port house they had to move the game over. But there was also issues with Nvidia and their GameWorks. It was a perfect storm of BS.

I heard Batman still doesn’t work properly or something, and they just gave up.

        • Pretty much. Not only did they give up, though, they also completely abandoned the PC market. It’s a straight-up middle finger to PC gamers.

so instead of making those ports better they are just giving up entirely
not a smart move really but I guess I can see why some executive would think it makes sense after all cutting costs still didn’t make the game profitable due to the sale numbers going so bad, so what else were they gonna do ?

stop cutting costs, take a risk, and invest in better products hoping it eventually proves to the market they can produce quality stuff and regain the trust of the consumers, leading to a resurgence in sales at some point?
