Warfare Studios recently launched their RPG Maker title, Storm of Spears, onto Steam. The game sees players taking on the role of a warrior out to get revenge for her brother’s death. This includes recruiting other warriors, prisoners, peasants and everyone else in between to help fighting against an evil queen.

The protagonist, Sura, is in charge of leading a band of mercenaries to rebel against the queen of the kingdom. This will see players partaking in a number of quests and side-quests as they grow their merry band of mercenaries, as well as battle against larger than life foes.

Storm of Spears is designed in the traditional 16-bit JRPG fashion, with an overhead view of the world and a world map to explore where players can visit different towns to interact with NPCs and grow their army. You can check out the launch trailer for Storm of Spears below.

The feedback for the game has mostly been positive, with a few people giving it a thumbs down for reusing some of the default assets from the RPG Maker toolkit. Even those who did thumbs down the game still had to praise it for its story and the use of original enemy sprites.

What’s funny, though, is that the discussion threads see a lot of players asking about why there’s a warning on the Steam page before entering the store that Storm of Spears may not be safe for work. The blatant NSFW warning led some gamers to question if there are H-scenes in the game or if there are any hardcore explicit content available. Well, a few gamers had to hop into the thread to inform them that there are no H-scenes in Storm of Spears but there are some ecchi-style CG images sprinkled throughout the game.

As evident in the trailer and the images for some of the characters, Warfare isn’t afraid of outfitting their heroines in boob plate armor.

As for the combat and gameplay… it’s typical JRPG fanfare from the SNES era of gaming. You’ll move your characters around in the overworld, battle in turn-based encounters using magic and items, as well as organize quests and gear from the status menus.

If you want a throwback 16-bit style JRPG to play through in your spare time, you can check out Storm of Spears over on the Steam store right now for only $1.99. The game is 40% off for the first week of being on Steam, so you can grab it for only $1.19.

Makes sense if you consider the increasing world backlash against women merely showing their skin.

      not really

look at the bright side, if the trigger warnings scare SJW and keep them away, devs won’t have to deal with their endless preaching and sermons on the forums anymore, no one will have to waste any more time with them

    Lol, anime is nsfw now

they are probably using it as a trigger warning, they now add them for the most innocuous shit, I was reading a light novel the other day and every other chapter had a trigger warning spoiling what i was about to read

    • Ahaha… trigger warnings before tragic events? That’s silly.

    • Zufield

They oughta take trigger warnings to their logical conclusion, and warn readers that the plot is going to go batshit retarded.

lol Imagine that in a George RR Martin book, trigger warnings every other paragraph!
