Weekly Recap June 4th: Overwatch NSFW Content DMCA’d, France Tries To Go Full Retard
(Last Updated On: June 4, 2016)

This week was jam packed with news. It was a varied selection of news, too. It wasn’t all bad and it wasn’t all good, but it was all very… enlightening. The most pressing of matters is definitely France politicians trying to get a sexist label amended to the PEGI in order to ensure that games deemed “sexist” cannot be sold to anyone under the age of 18. So far the more sane politicians in France aren’t really digging that kind of legislation.

Blizzard also wanted to remove the sexy-time from the internet by having a legal firm send out DMCAs to SFM porn makers, having the videos removed from popular porn sites. Don’t worry, though, modders already found a loophole that will ensure that Overwatch has a long and fruitful life in the virtual world of hardcore coitus. Also the giants of social media want to lay down more censorship on what you can say and do on their social networks. But on to the lighter side of the news, Overkill actually killed microtransactions in Payday 2, much to the appreciation of the gaming community, and Donald Trump made an appearance in Surgeon Simulator. These stories and more in this June 4th, 2016 edition of the Weekly Recap here at One Angry Gamer.

Blizzard Tries To Scrub The Internet Of Overwatch Porn

Blizzard is on a censorship spree, trying to remove all of the popular Overwatch porn from the web. They’ve been hammering down on those attempting to upload Source Filmmaker porn by sending out DMCAs and cease and desist letters. You know what happens when you try to censor the internet? The internet bites back. Cemu version 1.5.1 is now available to download for those in the general public. No more waiting around or watching videos from those who donated to the Patreon account. Some new content is coming to Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide and it’s called Drachenfels. Some new footage of the cancelled Legacy of Kain: Dead Sun has surfaced, showcasing a bit more of what gamers won’t be playing anytime soon. And robotic prostheses is getting an upgrade soon, taking the next step with modular chip implants that could allow people to feel and react when their prosthetic limb interacts with objects.

Payday 2 No Longer Has Microtransactions

It was a huge victory for gamers, recognizing that Payday 2 would no longer be laced with gosh awful microtransactions. Developer Overkill Software announced that they managed to buy back the rights of Payday 2 from 505 Games, enabling them to cut out the publisher’s desire to lace the game with the community-reviled microtransactions. Goldberg is this year’s pre-order bonus for WWE 2K17, signaling a possibility that the unstoppable one could be going head-to-head with Brock Lesnar in an epic rematch. Some new DLC dropped for Dead or Alive Xtreme 3, but due to it not being released in America it’s going to be awfully tough to get a hold of it if you live in America. The game P.A.M.E.L.A. has opened up its Steam page, indicating that it will be heading into Early Access this fall. And Path of Exile has some large scale expansive content on the way in the form of an update known as “The Prophecy”.

Google, Twitter, Facebook Begin Thought Policing

If you thought the whole thought-policing thing introduced in George Orwell’s 1984 was an over-exaggeration of censorship gone awry, it’s actually something that’s starting to become an actual reality in today’s society, and it’s being headed up by Microsoft, Google, Facebook and Twitter. Fallout 4 mods have now made their way to the Xbox One, giving Xboners the opportunity to experience Fallout 4 mods before PS4 gamers…. but there’s a pretty big catch in the form of limited space for mods. Tekken 7 could be coming to PC, which has been a long-running rumor that has dated back since 2014. And Videogamer.com has finally decided to get serious about adding affiliate disclosures to their articles after getting hammered by a #GamerGate ASA operation.

Digifira Puts The Community Back Into Gaming

With a focus on community driven content, the new gaming website Digifira focuses on user blogs, discussions and information surrounding geek culture. An underrated gem from the PS2 era called Primal has made a return to form on the PS4 with 1080p upscaling and better frame-rates, it’s actually a much better game than what many people might be expecting. A new game from Square Enix’s Collective called Moonlighter has landed on Steam Greenlight, seeking votes from the Steam community in order to make it onto the Steam store some day. And speaking of getting on Steam, the Unreal Engine 4-powered game Beyond Flesh and Blood has entered into Early Access on Steam as it moves slowly toward its 2017 release on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

The French Want A New Sexism Rating For Games

Now here’s a piece of news that’s bound to make your blood boil. The French lawmakers want to make a separate rating for sexism in games, and they want to make where games with higher sexism ratings are more difficult to sell in the market. And as if that was crazy enough, recently DC relaunched the Green Arrow as a “Social Justice Warrior”… no I don’t mean that in anyway that connotes irony, Oliver Queen, the Green Arrow, literally calls himself a Social Justice Warrior. A new cyberpunk JRPG with an epic sax guy theme song called Cosmic Star Heroine is set to arrive on PlayStation systems this summer. And Criminal Girls 2: Party Favors had to be censored to abide by the rules of the ESRB and PEGI. Oh yeah, and you can now connect some of your Steam games to GOG.com.

Donald Trump Needs Surgery In Surgery Simulator

The developers at Bossa Studios have parodied Donald Trump in their surgical simulation game, Surgeon Simulator. The Donald has come in for a heart transplant, and he either gets to receive a golden heart or a stone heart. That was probably the most important bit of news for the day. But there was also news like Congress investigating a cyber-breach at the Federal Reserve, as reported by TechRaptor. The MMD modders decided to take up the task of further the porn movement for Overwatch by making and releasing nude models of Tracer and Widowmaker. There’s a new VR productivity app that allows you to manage multiplayer screens and tabs at one time, it’s called Space: Future of Work. And Onechanbara Z2: Chaos lands on Steam. It’ll just be a matter of days before a nude mod is made available for the game.
