Megadimension Neptunia VII Gets Off To A Strong Sales Start On Steam

Compile Heart and Idea Factory International silently rolled out Megadimension Neptunia VII onto PC last week. It didn’t come with a lot of fanfare and there was no big ado about the release of the game. It just appeared on the Steam store shortly after the Steam Summer Sale concluded, but that didn’t stop it from racking up a strong sales start to be a niche Japanese title.

The game originally came out last year for the PlayStation 4, but Idea Factory International took some time to port it over to PC for release this summer. Despite launching with the hefty $49.99 price tag, the game has already managed to rack up more than 20,000 sales in its first week out, according to Steam Spy. The data is an approximation but sales seem to be on a steady incline for the game thanks to the positive word of mouth spreading about Compile Heart’s latest Neptunia game arriving on PC.

A lot of the general sentiments for Megadimension Neptunia VII is that it’s one of the best in the series and easy to get into even if you’re new to Hyperdimension Neptunia, with Steam user Hizir explaining…

“If you never played a Neptunia game you can start with this. All you need to know is explained as you go, no need to play the other games to understand. The classic JRPG is all there with some much needed improvements and fresh addtions to the series.”

To give you an idea of one of the more popular aspects of the game, YouTuber SplitPlaythru put together a collage video showing all of the girls in their transofmrations, totaling around 17 minutes with plenty of pantsu shots that you can check out below.

Anyway, out of the total 486 reviews in Steam’s user database at the moment, only 10 of them are negative. The major reasons why some people didn’t like it? Poor compatibility with AMD cards. It’s definitely something that could be addressed in a future update from either AMD or IFI.

The latest game in the series offers a lot of the same features that made the original Hyperdimension Neptunia games popular, including JRPG-style combat and micromanagement, along with the transformations and jiggle physics. They’ve also added all new secondary transformations as well as all new battle deconstruction mechanics that allow players to split enemies into pieces with new attacks. Finally, there’s a new dungeon mini-game that allows players to go spelunking.
