Porn Studio Tycoon’s Steam Greenlight Entry Spurs Heated Discussions
(Last Updated On: July 11, 2016)

Zitrix Megalomedia, a Russian-based developer, has recently posted up their game Porn Studio Tycoon to Steam Greenlight. The game is similar to HuniePot’s Honey Cam Studio, only it’s not a clicker, it’s not a porn game and it’s all about the business side of running a successful porn empire.

LewdGamer (the site is most definitely NSFW) picked up news about the game after it was recently submitted to Steam’s Greenlight curation service. The name and the themes for the game instantly garnered it a lot of eyeballs on the page, especially after taking a look at the risque but moderately safe for work trailer.

Instantaneously, there were a lot of comments both for and against the game. The comments that were for the game praised Zitrix for going more in-depth with the business aspects of the porn industry, allowing players to cut together videos, interact with 29 different actresses and dealing with the ups and downs of casting models for certain kinds of shoots. It’s something the comment thread consistently notes is missing from Honey Cam Studio.

The other side of the coin railed on Zitrix, claiming that all of the realistic looking photos that were “drawn over” appear to be copyrighted material. Multiple people mention that they downvoted the game for the use of copyrighted material.

Another group of commenters simply feel as if the game is trying to appeal to “horny 12-year-olds”, with users like Chudah writing…

“The world and morality has been in the shitter for at least 10 years now. This is just icing on the cake. And you know it’ll get voted to the top 50 because there are enough 12 yo boys on Steam who think they’re cool and edgy cause PORN! I just don’t know if Valve will allow this through or not. Guess we shall see.”

Arkatox advised the Greenlight community to not vote for Porn Studio Tycoon if they’re letting their sexual urges get in the way, writing…

“I feel like people are going to vote for this game just because they feel horny. That’s… not a good reason to vote for a game. Think before you vote, people. Does this genuinely look like a game you want to play? It doesn’t for me, but if you genuinely think you’d have fun, give it a vote. Just don’t vote because you’re horny.”

VirexGames simply felt as if the topical matter and design was “garbage”, writing…

“Absolutely pathetic. Why work hard and make a real game when you can make garbage like this and know that people will vote for it just because of tits. You’re a disgrace and have no right being on Greenlight.”

The three groups – those who want the game, those who feel it only appeals to horny young boys, and those who feel Zitrix is using copyrighted material – are all battling it out for the loudest voice in the Steam comment section on the Greenlight page.

This seems like the kind of game that could end up going either way. If Zitrix can prove that they aren’t using copyrighted material then they may just win over the copyright crusaders, and in that regard they would have both the pro-porn and the copyright crusaders on their side, while they would only have to contend with those who don’t want games on Steam aimed at horny young boys.

If you fit into the latter two groups, feel free to pass on Porn Studio Tycoon. If you do want a serious game about running a porn studio in today’s climate, feel free to check out the Steam Greenlight page or the game’s SFW official website for more info.

If using copyrigthed material either pay the royalties or shut it down. If all clear let the consumer decide, Fuck the sex police. .

if they shut up no one would know about this.

as for his Chudah character, looks like a innocent girl who likes anime. NOT THE ONES WITH SEX IN THEM THOUGH, so i cant look at her negative, prepare for more immorality in the future, this is where the world is heading towards to.

I have no problem with the game existing (beyond a mild weeping for the state of humanity in general.) but nor do I have any issues should Steam decide that it is inappropriate for their store and platform. Let the market and the private property owners decide.

It’s still probably less damaging to society than Pokemon Go.

Seems like people totally forgot about the Lula games

As if 12 year olds care about managing the porn industry. Can’t imagine that.

the artstyle of the game guarantees I have no interest in it but damn it I will support its right to exist just as much as any other game

it does not violate any guideline and it seems to have genuine value to consumers who are interested into such kind of game so seriously, bring it on

let’s go Gaben, show them what Steam’s openness ideals are all about, no voice no matter how loud it maybe should be able to make them compromise on their goal to provide a platform as open as possible to allow videogames to push to new boundaries and new experiences

any person who would put his own tastes above openness and would try to deny a game its right to be played is a person that does not have the medium’s best interests at heart

    • “any person who would put his own tastes above openness and would try to deny a game its right to be played is a person that does not have the medium’s best interests at heart”

      It’s basically authoritarian bigotry.

And they’ll justify it by playing the moral compass card.

Which of course, proves that they’re nothing more than intolerant little pricks who want to police what others can and cannot play.

Sadly, most humans only have their own best interests at heart.

  • So video games appealing to “horny 12-year-olds” are not okay?

Aren’t these people always crying of “diversity”? Those comments doesn’t sound very diverse to me.

People proclaiming “Stop liking what I don’t like!” isn’t anything new. I think we can all agree on that.

If anything, the current frenzy of Politically Correct ™ double-speak merely provides cover for people who are inclined to police other people’s opinions and tastes. Basically they can engage in the same previously shitty behavior, but feel self righteous about it because they can now label things they don’t like as some kind of “-ism”.

We’ve pretty much gone full circle from 30 years ago. It used to be Dungeons and Dragons was satanic witchcraft and that DOOM was corrupting our youth, so please, think of the children! Now it’s “this game has boobs and sex in it and is causing misogyny, so please think of the women!”

I’m serious about this. If there was a Venn diagram of “arguments” used by the Religious Right to ban/censor media compared to arguments used by Politically Correct feminists/social justice warriors, it’d be almost a complete overlapping circle.
