Riptide GP: Renegade Now Available On PS4, PC For $14.99

Vector Unit’s Riptide GP: Renegade has officially launched for Steam and the PlayStation 4. The new racing game sees players partaking in intense, water-based events using futuristic hover craft.

The game features all new race tracks with all new graphics running on the newer generation engine that Vector Unit has employed for their games appearing on the PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Just like the previous entries in the series, a full-on career mode is present, enabling gamers to race through different trials and tracks in an attempt to earn enough credits to unlock new characters, outfits and racing machines. New to the series is bosses along with a crew feature where players can build up and enhance their own racing gang.

Multiplayer makes a return to form, with eight-player online races and split-screen multiplayer for up to four-players via local play. They’ve also added multiplayer championships to the game, so you no longer have to get stuck doing nothing but single or quick races.

You can see what some of the improvements and gameplay look like with the trailer below.

Co-founder and CTO of Vector Unit, Ralf Knoesel, commented about the game launching for PC and PS4 after spending an ample amount of time in development, stating in the press release…

“This is the biggest game Vector Unit has ever done, and fans of the series have been incredibly patient and supportive,” “It’s exciting to have it finally available so fans of the series and new players alike can start racing their way up the leaderboards.”

This is a great throwback to classics like Jet Moto. Back in the late 1990s and early 2000s we had a lot of different kind of games spread across a wide swathe of genres. These days everything is safe, cookie-cutter and bland… save for indie games.

If you’re in the mood for something that isn’t the 10th iteration of a Forza Motorsport release or a half-cocked demo for $60 with the Gran Turismo title on it, you can grab Riptide GP: Renegade from off the PlayStation Store or the Steam store for $14.99. The mobile version and Xbox One version will release later in August.
