Star Wars: Battlefront Will Get Jyn Erso And Orson Krennic DLC

Two characters from the upcoming Rogue One: A Star Wars Story film will be making their way into Star Wars: Battlefront. According to IGN the main protagonist Jyn Erso and the main villain director Orson Krennic.

The two characters will be available as heroes in Star Wars: Battlefront on the new planet Scarif.

Unfortunately we have absolutely no idea when the characters will launch or what they will cost or what other properties will be attached to their debut into DICE’s first/third-person shooter.

This news accompanies the Star Wars Celebration 2016, where a new behind-the-scenes video was recently released for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The movie follows a group of rogue Rebel soldiers (and mercenaries) who attempt to steal the plans for the Death Star. It’s a retelling of the tale that actually set things in motion in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, which sees Leia Organa and her crew aboard a corvette class Rebel vessel attempting to outrun a Star Destroyer carrying Lord Darth Vader.

The plans for the Death Star are put into R2D2 and sent to Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker, but Rogue One goes back before those events to explain how they captured those plans in the first place. It’s unlikely that any of the people involved in that little raid on the Imperial base make it out alive, but it will be interesting to see how that all takes place.

As for Star Wars: Battlefront, EA is desperately trying to milk whatever they can from the abandoned husk of the shooter and have also announced an offline mode for the game set to arrive on July 21st, next week.

No date on the Jyn Erso and director Orson Krennic DLC has been set, but expect more tie-in DLC for Battlefront leading up to the movie’s release later this year. It’s still crazy that EA didn’t capitalize on the popularity of Episode VII and add some DLC to the game, but they’re likely going to work overtime on Rogue One content.

Star Wars: Battlefront is currently available for PC via Origin, PS4 and Xbox One.
