Ys VIII Will Be 40 To 60 Hours Long; Trails Of Cold Steel 3 Will Launch In 2017

Looking over to the latest interview from Dengeki PlayStation 4 that featured Falcom president Toshihoro Kondo [via Gematsu], it brought out some notable highlights regarding Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana and the development for The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 3. The JRPG will release on July 21st for PS Vita.

According to the devs, the game’s development has taken longer than expected, and is said to bring a substantial implementation into the series. I’m not sure how the game will turn out on release, but according to the interview we do find some interesting things about the game that spans across gameplay mechanics and story related content.

As some might have guessed, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana will feature two protagonist. This was explained during the interview that Dengeki PlayStation 4 posted up, detailing that the devs wanted to tell a story from another perspective of someone other than Adol. This opts for a dual view while folks playthrough the story of Lacrimosa of Dana.

As for completion time, it will take around 40 hours to speed through the game and around 60 hours (if not more) when playing through the game normally. The latter (or 60 hours of gameplay) also takes into account of participating in side-quest and similar events.

Moreover, according to the last page of the interview, The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 3 is in development and is set to release sometime in 2017. Falcom had announced this sometime back, and noted that a list of improvements will be made to the upcoming game.

Lastly, when Ys VIII: Lacrimosa drops it will arrive with free DLC. Of course it will also bring along with it the typical paid DLC, but I’m not sure how much the free DLC will offer up on release? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

In the mean time, those looking forward to the upcoming JRPG can expect the title to drop for PS Vita on July 21st over in Japan, and for PS4 sometime in 2017.
