As of recent, Square Enix attended Sony’s Tokyo Game Show 2016 press conference and revealed a new trailer for their game, NieR: Automata. The very strange and eccentric hack and slash game is set to come to PS4 on February 23rd, 2017, and to the West for PS4 and PC early next year.
During Square Enix attendance at the Tokyo Game Show, the company showcased some footage of NieR: Automata. Adding on to that, publication sites Famitsu and Esutero released posts detailing what will be in the upcoming hack and slash game.
Continuing on from the above, Famitsu revealed the game’s release date and characters on a semi-blurred screenshot. The second post by Esutero provided a bevy amount of character information regarding Emil, Pod 049, Pod 153, YoRHa Infantry Squad General, Operators 60 and 210, Adam, Eve, Devola, Poola, and Pascal.
Before listing all of the characters and a synopsis of who they are, you can check out both the screenshot and trailer below.
The video comes in by Square Enix official YouTube channel, and shows different sequences between numbers.
Looking over to the characters that will be in the game — including returning characters like Emil, Devola and Popola — a brief bio follows their name and VA (voice actors), as seen below.
Emil (voiced by Mai Kadowaki) is the same character that joined your party in the original NieR. He is said to harbor latent magical powers, but most of his memories are gone due to long years that have passed.
Pod 042 and Pod 153 (voiced by Hiroki Yasumoto and Kaoru Akiyama) are support units of the Automated Infantry Squad, YoRHa. They act as long distant attack and movement support.
YoRHa Infantry Squad General (voiced by Chiaki Kanou) is in charge of the YoRHa Infantry Squad and director of the floating “Bunker” (that’s in satellite orbit). She is level headed and calm, and is speculated to have connections to YoRHa prototype A2.
Operators 60 and 210 (voiced by Keiko Isobe and Mary Hatsumi) stand as the Bunker’s communications operators. They take care of command transmission and information analysis for the YoRHa Infantry Squad. They are known to change up their personality depending on the individual.
Adam (voiced by Daisuke Namikawa) is a silver-haired, young man is noted to be beautiful. His character is said to be a mystery, while sporting a calm personality that takes relentless actions if it’s for is goal.
Eve (voiced by Tatsuhisa Suzuki) is Adam’s twin brother. Eve has a simple personality and doesn’t think about things too much, or in-depth.
Devola and Popola (voiced by Ryoko Shiraishi) are old-style androids who are at the resistance camp. They feel indebted to their model of machines that ran wild long ago. They are said to act as support to 2B and 9S.
Pascal (voiced by Aoi Yuki) is a machine life-form, but is said to be a pacifist nonetheless. She’s a highly intelligent machine with an interest in mankind and the history of machine life-forms.
