Polygon’s Ben Kuchera and the rest of his followers are probably elated with insurmountable joy, as Hasbro and Backflip Studios announced that My Little Pony: Puzzle Party has become available for iOS and Android devices today.
The match-3 puzzle game features all of the popular ponies from the MLP universe, including Twilight Sparkle, Fluttershy, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Rarity and Pinkie Pie. If I missed one, I’m sure one of Kuchera’s brony cronies will make up for it in the comment section.
Nevertheless, the game features players being able to utilize the special abilities of select ponies, as they journey throughout the various levels of Equestria. Hasbro released a new behind-the-scenes video to give gamers a look at the design of the game, which you can check out below.
The game is designed to be colorful, over-the-top and very bright cheerful, according to Backflip Studios. There’s a surprising amount of dialogue included in the game despite being a match-3 puzzle game.
Mark Blecher, the senior VP of digital gaming and corporate development at Hasbro, commented in the press release about how they wanted to capture the appeal of the television show within the confines of a mobile puzzle game, saying…
“MY LITTLE PONY: PUZZLE PARTY harnesses the magic of My Little Pony, bringing all the excitement and fun from the ‘Friendship is Magic’ television series to a game that Pony fans and casual gamers are both going to love to play.”
I never understood the popularity of My Little Pony, but every time I go to check on new mods on the Steam Workshop for just about any game, there’s a new mod posted up featuring MLP. The property is ubiquitous at this point.
A lot of people seem to enjoy the happy tones of the show and I can’t blame them for that, especially given all the grim-dark misinformation that spills out of today’s corrupt mainstream media organizations.
You can grab a digital copy of My Little Pony: Puzzle Party and blind yourself to the wiles of American tearing itself apart leading up to the November elections by downloading the game from the Google Play store or the Apple iTunes App Store.
